User manual

An abbreviated user manual for working with me

The basics

  • Pronouns: She/her
  • I’m an Oxford comma groupie.
  • I often close my eyes to visualize information.
  • I get offended when you mix me up with another Asian. You lose currency if you’re a repeat offender.
  • I’m a typical millennial so don’t call me without letting me know first because I’ll 100% let you go to voicemail.
  • I’m multilingual: Taiwanese (first language), Mandarin (second), English (third), Japanese (studied for 8 years and lived for 1 year), and Korean (conversational listening only).

Work values

  • Exploring solutions, brainstorming, and vigorous conversations energize me.
  • I value and trust people who take responsibility and ownership for themselves and their products. I’m committed to doing the same.
  • Documentation with purpose and a clear narrative is essential to me.
  • I care deeply about customers—their needs, frustrations, and moments of delight. Talking to customers frequently and soliciting their perception is important.
  • I speak with passion and conviction when I’m excited about something. I’m always curious and open to different perspectives so don’t interpret this as inflexible or overly dogmatic. I have very little ego at work.
  • I prioritize results and learnings so I can be very direct and straightforward. Because of this, I may overlook the feelings of others or appear overly critical. This is something I’m actively working on so I appreciate it when people tell me proactively if I’m hurting feelings.

The DISC assessment has been the most accurate description of my work style.
